Friday, 16 September 2011 00:53

Ellie Dehn will make her Met role debut as Donna Elvira in this spring's performances of Mozart's Don Giovanni, replacing Annette Dasch, who has withdrawn due to pregnancy. Dehn will sing the performances on February 21, 24, 29, March 3, 7, 10, 14, and 17.

Dehn first appeared with the Met as Marguerite in a 2007 Prospect Park performance of Gounod's Faust. She made her house debut as Mrs. Nadoo in the Met premiere of Philip Glass's Satyagraha and sang Musetta in La Bohème in the 2010-11 season. She sang Donna Elvira at the Spoleto Festival USA in 2005 and 2006 and will sing Donna Anna at San Francisco Opera this season.

The new production of Don Giovanni, directed by Michael Grandage and conducted by Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi, will premiere on October 13 with a cast that stars Mariusz Kwiecien in the title role. The spring cast, conducted by Andrew Davis, features Gerald Finley in the title role, Marina Rebeka as Donna Anna, Isabel Leonard as Zerlina, Matthew Polenzani as Don Ottavio, John Relyea as Leporello, Shenyang as Masetto, and James Morris as the Commendatore.
