The works of GLAAD's 2011 Top 100 Artists were auctioned off, raising a total of $117,000 which will be used to support GLAAD's continuing efforts as the "media watchdog" for the LBGT community, encouraging film, television, print and online media to portray LBGT individuals in an enlightened and non-offensive manner, and to report LBGT-related stories fairly and without bias. Celebrities in attendance included singer Kimberley Locke, actresses Carrie Preston (True Blood) and Laverne Cox; TV personalities Isis King, Reichen (The A List), Mike Ruiz (The A List), Ramona Singer (Real Housewives of New York) and Anne Thornton (Dessert First); MSNBC news anchor Thomas Roberts; The Imperial Court of New York's Gary Cosgrove, Emperor XX Vanity Society and Empress XXV Pepperica Swirl; and jewelry designer Alexis Bittar. Live auction art pieces included URBC4, 2011 (Jordan Eagles) and Planche I, Henri Matisse, 1920 (Robert John Russo Gallery). In addition, guests bid on more than 100 unique pieces of art from participating artists, including the works of Ron Amato, Justine Cooper, Melanie Daniel, Scooter, LaForge, James Lecce, Slava Mogutin, Lisa Ross, Christopher Russell and Christopher Stout. The 100 featured artists were selected by the Art Advisory Committee from hundreds of submissions. This year's Committee was comprised of various influential artists, foundations and galleries and was lead by this years OUTAuction curator Daneyal Mahmood. The 10th Annual OUTAuction was presented by Bud Light and Rokk Vodka and featured a cocktail reception where guests enjoyed a variety of tasty libations, and a fabulous VIP after party where the glitteratti of New York's LBGT community were entertained by Ms. Locke while dining on a variety of tasty foods and yummy desserts. The GLAAD OUTAuction is truly one of the most enjoyable and best organized LBGT events of the year. Kudos to GLAAD Acting President Mike Thompson and Director of Communications Rich Ferraro, along with thier paid and volunteer staffs, for their tireless efforts towards making this event such a huge success.
