Bright Moments CD Release February 23rd at Cameo Gallery  E-mail

Bright Moments is Kelly Pratt's new project - multi-instrumentalist for Beirut, Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem among others. Natives (out 2/21) is the spiritual sequel to his earlier band Team B, whose 2008 album was recorded into the microphone on a MacBook in hotel rooms and hurried backstage demo sessions while he was on tour with Arcade Fire and LCD. (Members of Beirut, Antibalas and LCD all helped).

For Bright Moments, Pratt wanted to make sure to take his time. Natives was recorded with no set schedule with Beirut's rhythm section (Nick Petree and Paul Collins) and accordionist (Perrin Cloutier), as well as the drummer from Pratt's former Afrobeat band Akoya. He spent a year in his home studio or "instrument graveyard" alongside field recordings, found sounds sourced from all over the planet, and reinforcements from Team B, Beirut, Yellow Ostrich and Spoon's Jim Eno behind the mixing board. The band performs as a 5-piece and will head down to SXSW this year.

Bright Moments will be having a CD release show Thursday, February 23rd at Cameo Gallery in support of debut album, Natives (Luaka Bop). Show is at 8pm. Admission is $10.
