Not Beautiful Enough: Women on ViolenceNov. 26, 8 pmAdmission: TBA The Living Theatre 21 Clinton St. 212-792-8050 livingtheatre.org Have you ever wanted to combine different art mediums and see what would turn out? We mixed colors as children all the time and, to our surprise, rather than making an ugly distortion of nothing, we created new, beautiful hues with traces of the combined agents; a living, breathing representation of every color in the rainbow combined together. Well, in "Not Beautiful Enough: Women on Violence," Jackie Sheeler, Kathi Georges, Magdalena Alagna and Phyllis Talley combine live poetry, bondage, belly dance, and seduction into one as they transform into word-armed terrorists, determined to explode the new versions of the Beauty Myth once and for all. This ensemble, performing with gut-wrenching passion, do not present a play so much as a living exploration and open-ended conversation. By merging a piece of art from each slice of life, these four women create a new color, if you will, touching on a new plane of existence. This moving piece of art work holds humanity in its hands and invites you to experience the journey and ask silenced questions alongside them for 10 dollars.
