At the Empire Hotel located on 63rd street between Central Park and Broadway, happy hour is a staple for the business men and women working at well established companies and the college students looking forward to starting a great night. All guests adorn button downs, slacks and dress shoes for males, as females are seen in up to date "fashion." This all follows the strict dress code, making some with not so up to par wardrobes, feel uncomfortable inside a room full of the fashion savvy. If guests are able to pass even stricter security who takes their jobs a bit too serious, you are met with the beauty of happy hour located on the hotel’s rooftop, "Empire Hotel Rooftop." An elevator up to the twelfth floor soon takes you into a secret world. Kicking off at 5PM and adorned with modern furniture, classy ambiance, warm colors, low lighting, a beautiful view of midtown, and an added bonus of female dancers for the sexually driven men, the "Empire Hotel rooftop" is sure to appeal to a designer’s eye. The option of sitting indoors and/or outdoors is an added plus, as the too laid back waiters not so often, come to start your night of drinks and soon get irritated when they set their sights on newly poured drinks from the bar. Three bartenders stand behind the bar making drinks after drinks as the tip pile of one dollar bills grow. All bartenders appeal to the audience and the rooftops appearance, looking young, well-kept and modelesque in black tops and tight bottoms. The pricing of drinks matches the well suited guests, as prices of a drink start from nine dollars and up; be sure to ask the bartenders and waiters for the happy hour priced drinks as your bill will get greater the “happier” you get. Most popular of drinks are the ever simple Margaritas flavored with liquer, and a variety of fruit juices and the Lychee Breeze (specifically for females); a blend of sweet, sour, and strong all in one. Jazz night is the theme of the evening, as a live Jazz band plays smooth, soulful music, a free event to enjoy. As the crowd gets larger the atmosphere becomes warmer and the crowd rowdier, around 9PM after having a multitude of happy hour drinks. To avoid the rowdiness, you can enjoy the outside seating area and be surrounded by the beauty of midtown as you are near Lincoln Center and buildings with pristine architecture. What's better than free? On Wednesday's, the Empire Hotel Rooftop offers open bar from 6-7PM to only those who have RSVP’d towards vodka drinks. A place to be, the Empire Hotel Rooftop is a classy and trendy spot, great for conversation, and a view no one should miss.
