![]() MAGIC CITY MEMOIRS WILL PREMIERE IN COMPETITION AT THE NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL LATINO FILM FESTIVAL (NYILFF) The Award-winning feature, executive produced by Andy Garcia, also stars his daughter Dominik Garcia-Lorido. Both will be Present at Thursday EventMAGIC CITY MEMOIRS, an award-winning independent feature executive produced by Andy Garcia, will have its New York premiere in competition at the New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF)on Friday August 19 at 7 PM at the AMC Empire Theatres Screen 18, 234 West 42nd Street. Additionally, executive producer Andy Garcia will be present at a prior screening on Thursday August 18 at 8 PM at the DGA Theatre. Salgado, MAGIC CITY MEMOIRS won the Lexus Pursuit of Perfection Award at the Miami International Film Festival as well as Best Actor, Best Film and Best Screenplay at the Ibiza Film Festival. MAGIC CITY MEMOIRS is the story of three Miami private high school friends Mikey, Angel and Stok, who revel in their world of privilege and loose parental oversight, living large in the hip-hop lifestyle of parties, fast cars, fast boats and easy sex. But life in Miami can get a little too fast, especially if you're young, and when the boys face a night of trouble that brings them face-to-face with reality, their friendship – and their lives – will hang in the balance. MAGIC CITY MEMOIRS captures the texture and energy of this pulse-pounding tropical paradise – and shows us what lurks beneath the sheen. MAGIC CITY MEMOIRS stars Michael Cardelle as Angel Suarez, Jr., Andres Dominguez as Stok, Dominik Garcia-Lorido as Veronica Suarez, Natalie Martinez as Mari, Julio Mechoso as Alejandro Acosta, Nestor Serrano as Angel Suarez, Sr. and JR Villarreal as Mikey Acosta. The cast is rounded out by Jordi Vilasuso as Eric, Seth D. Miller as Jazz and Adam Senn as Charles. The 97 minute film is produced by Jaydee Freixas and executive produced by Andy Garcia. Hear Andy tell personal stories about the evolution of his illustrious career, from his big break as a gang member on TV's Hill Street Blues to global superstar, discuss how being Latino has played a role in his journey to success, and impart advice for all of the actors, filmmakers and dreamers looking to leave their creative mark on the world. Throughout his impressive career, Andy's worked with such directors as Brian de Palma, Francis Ford Coppola and Sidney Lumet, and his performance in The Godfather: Part III was Oscar-nominated as Best Supporting Actor and secured him international stardom. Other credits include The Untouchables, Black Rain, When a Man Loves a Woman, Ocean's Eleven, The Lost City and the Tribeca Film Festival Audience Award Winner City Island. Originally from Cuba, Garcia is especially proud of his portrayal of renowned Cuban trumpet player Arturo Sandoval in For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. During the event, Andy also will be presented with the NYILFF Impact Award, which is bestowed on artists whose body of work has influenced the community.
