Toms shoes are known throughout the world for their comfort and style and of course for their hassle free, satisfaction guaranteed customer service. They are providing shoes to people that want to feel good while looking good without compromise. Offering feet fashionable choices without the discomfort of foot pain and poor design is their forte. But did you know that there is more behind this company than meets the eye? Toms opened back in 2006 when Blake Mycoskie was in Argentina and encountered young children that didn’t have any shoes. No shoes meant that they were more susceptible to catching diseases from having their feet uncovered; or getting wounds and sores which also would make them more likely to get life threatening infections from having unprotected feet. Not to mention the fact that these children were unable to attend school. Being that having shoes is usually part of the school uniform criteria, if these young men and women didn’t have shoes, they were unable to receive the most precious gift of all that many of us take for granted- an education. Blake wanted a way to give back and thus, Toms was built. This was a company who’s focus and drive was not just on providing great shoes and a strong customer base, but on understanding that there are children in need and wanting to do something about it. Their “one for one” program ensures that for every single pair of Toms shoes that are purchased, one pair are given to a child in need without shoes. So when you find yourself splurging for the spring and summer seasons on a great new pair of wedges, this is guilt free shopping at its finest. Your purchase will offer a child in need hope that they may not have been able to feel otherwise, all in a pair of brand new shoes. Toms has built themselves up proudly based on this movement of giving back and thus, as of September of last year they have been able to provide over one million pairs of shoes to children around the world that need them. In April of this year there was a Toms sponsored One Day Without Shoes that received worldwide participation. People around the world, including many celebrities, voluntarily went a day with no shoes, literally barefoot in order to raise awareness about how serious this problem is. Imagine having to live shoeless on a daily basis like many of these impoverished individuals worldwide. But why stop there? What started as a shoe company is now expanding and offering a new product. Following the same “one for one” guideline, for every one of this new product sold, another of the same will be given to a child in need. What’s the new product then you might ask?? Well, we all truly want to know! As it stands, only ten people know what the new product line is, so this is definitely a very hushed and covert operation. The anticipation of this is overwhelming and to play on the curiosity of the public, there will be mystery boxes popping up everywhere between now and June 7th, which is when the big question will finally be answered. Customers will be able to guess what‘s in the mystery boxes and on the 7th, the boxes will be opened simultaneously for the big reveal! So what’s your guess?? Stay tuned and let’s find out what this company is going to be bringing our way now. Either way, we know it’s going to be big! But the best part is that it’s going to continue to contribute toward the movement of giving back and doesn’t that make you feel good overall?
