![]() Fall is such a fashion conscious season. After all, as we are segueing from one season to the next we are introducing new articles of clothing into our wardrobe. We are shedding the capris and shorts and trading them in for denim, leggings and tights. Out go the mini skirts with no tights or leggings and they are replaced with the high waist pencil skirts that have some length and definition to them. Women, no matter what their budget or body type, ought to be able to look and feel great and fashionable. It’s all about knowing what type of style works for your body. Once you can identify that, you’ll have true pieces that work for you. If you have a tummy and want to hide it, try high waisted skirts like the snakeskin print one from Newport News that you can buy online. You might think that these types of skirts will draw attention to your problem area, but in essence they make you appear taller, longer and leaner. Try one with a contrast band and some stretch to really give the illusion of a more slender midriff. This is also a great option for post baby bodies. Petite and curvy? No problem. Try wrap skirts that are cinched and pleated to really give some length to the legs. Structured skirts that fall right above the knee also will draw the eye down and give the illusion of a longer set of legs. Additionally, skirts that are cut on a bias will also elongate and if you wear heels you will really add another two or three inches to your silhouette If you have a long torso, try using straight line skirts to elongate legs and shorten the torso. Dressing following monochromatic color tones will also help to give the illusion of balance between your waist and legs. Tuck in your tops and use wide belts that match the color of your pants or shoes to add a contrast and really give you an even and together look. Avoid belts that are the same color as your top and jacket. The idea here is to paint an illusion by having the eyes avert to where you want them to go. Have a full bust that you want to minimize? Try handkerchief playful hems that will give a flow and movement while drawing attention to your gams instead of your bosom. Printed skirts paired with solid, close to the body tops will balance the body out and eyes will immediately go downward to follow the print and the flow of the skirt. High waist skirts with fitted tops and camis also offer the balance of hips and highlight curves while smoothing out flaws. If you have a little something extra in the back and on your hips, experiment with fabric shapes like the hot off the runway tulip skirt from Jason Wu to give you a little extra room to play with in the hip area. Tulip skirts also look sleek and clean when paired with this type of skirt. A great professional look and fun all around. Lace long and lean skirts are also great. Look for one with a stretch knit lining instead of a structured woven one. This will give you stretch while fitting against your form easily, hugging every curve.
